The Dempsey Law Firm LLC in Clarksville, GA is a solo practice law firm providing family law, Juvenile Court, and estate planning services, among other practice areas. For more than 10 years, we have been serving clients throughout northeast Georgia, including Habersham, Stephens, Rabun, Banks, White, Hall, and Lumpkin counties. We have experience in all court settings for misdemeanors and felonies and work diligently to ensure your side is thoroughly represented.
Domestic Relations and Family Law
Family matters are among the most emotional because they often involve children. We have extensive experience with both hearings and settlement negotiations. We understand that each client’s needs are different. We aim to make an otherwise stressful situation a more positive experience for you.
Divorce
If you are considering filing for divorce, whether contested or uncontested, or you have already been served with legal documents, we will be happy to schedule an initial consultation. We can discuss the issues and the various options and procedures involved to resolve your issue and best protect your interests.
Modifications
While the Courts attempt to make every effort in a divorce or custody matter to prepare for future changes, in today’s society that is not always possible. A modification is often needed upon a change of circumstances of either or both parties, or as a child grows older. Filing a modification to address these needs is the best way to change a Court order once a final decree or order of custody has been entered.
Legitimation
If a child is born out of wedlock, in Georgia the father must be legitimated to have legal rights to the child and to be involved in that child’s upbringing. We can assist you in filing for legitimation to preserve your rights, obtain visitation, and help you to be involved with the education and health care matters relating to your child.
Child Custody and Support Issues
Child custody and support laws can be complicated and are affected by various factual situations. If you have a child custody or child support issue, time can be of the essence. If you have received legal documents or have been served a Summons & Complaint, schedule an initial consultation as early as possible. Juvenile Court Matters

These matters, whether initiated by private parties or by the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) for dependency cases, can be extremely stressful for families.

Private Juvenile Matters
Private Juvenile Matters, which can encompass legitimation, guardianship, or other cases that transfer to Juvenile Court from Superior Court and/or Probate Court, may not typically involve state intervention, but we are equipped to assist clients in understanding and addressing the complexities of these legal matters.
